Temporary Skill Shortage visa – Subclass 482

The Visa is designed to help employers that are facing difficulties finding appropriate skilled employees in the local job market.

 There are three streams under this visa:

  • Short-Term Stream: Applicants with occupations on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) may be eligible for visas up to 2 years, renewable onshore for a further two years.
  • Medium & Long-Term Stream and Regional Stream: Applicants with the occupations on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL) may be eligible for visas up to 4 years.
  • Labour Agreement Stream: Applicants with the occupations are not on the Skilled Occupation Lists may consider requesting a Labour Agreement.

482 Visa requirements

  • Have an employer willing to sponsor and employ you in a full-time position.
  • At least two years of related work experience
  • Genuine intention to work in the nominated position
  • Qualifications that are relevant to the position
  • Adequate arrangements for health insurance
  • Meet health, character and English requirements

482 nomination requirements

A summary of the requirements are:

  • A genuine, full-time position
  • Work in the sponsor’s business unless an associated entity
  • A salary in line with market rates, not below $73,150
  • Subject to Labour Market Testing, unless exemptions apply
  • On the relevant occupation lists
