Electronic Travel Authority Visa – Subclass 601

You must be outside of Australia to apply for the Electronic Travel Authority. This is a visa only available for persons holding the following passport:

  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong (SAR of China)
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Liechtenstein
  • Luxembourg
  • Malaysia
  • Malta
  • Monaco
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • Republic of San Marino
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan (excluding official or diplomatic passports)
  • The Netherlands
  • United Kingdom—British Citizen
  • United Kingdom—British National (Overseas)
  • United States of America
  • Vatican City

This electronic visa allows for multiple entries to Australia over a 12-month period, with each stay lasting up to 3 months. You can apply for it yourself using the Australian ETA app, through your airline provider at the airport, or via travel agents.

The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) visa offers the benefit of automatic processing, allowing for a quick visa grant. However, if you have an adverse immigration record or character issues, your application will not be processed automatically. In such cases, you will need to contact your embassy for further information or apply for the Visitor Visa – subclass 600.
