Visitor Visa – Subclass 600

This visa allows you to travel to Australia for tourism, business visitor activities, or to visit family. You should use this visitor visa – subclass 600 if you are not eligible for the other electronic visitor visas – Subclass 601 and Subclass 651.

The streams available are: 

  • Tourist Stream – This stream allows you to enter Australia to sightsee, visit family and friends etc. 
  • Sponsored Family Stream – This stream allows you to come to Australia to visit Australian family members. This stream will require that Australian family member to sponsor you. 
  • Business Visitor Stream – This stream allows you to come to Australia for short business visits however you cannot work (paid or unpaid)
  • Approved Destination Stream – This stream is designated for citizens from specific regions of China traveling on organized tours.
  • Frequent Traveller Stream – This stream allows Chinese citizens to visit to Australia multiply over a span of 10 years.

Each stream carries slightly different visa conditions and requirements. Therefore, it is always best to consult with a professional before you apply to ensure you pick the correct stream. 

For all visa streams, you must demonstrate that you are a genuine temporary entrant (GTE), meaning you genuinely intend to stay in Australia temporarily and have plans and a sincere intention to return to your home country. Challenges in meeting this requirement may arise if:

  • You have more family members in Australia than in your home country, indicating stronger ties to Australia.
  • You lack significant assets or property that would provide a reason to return to your home country.
  • You lack strong employment ties that would give you a reason to return to your home country.
  • You lack sufficient funds to support your travel and stay in Australia.
  • You are from a high-risk country, where visitors have a higher tendency to overstay in Australia.
  • You have no compelling reason to return to your home country, such as being unemployed or retired.
  • You are from a politically unstable region.

When would I be applying for 600 Visitor Visa?

You should apply for the 600 Visitor Visa if you are ineligible for other electronic visitor visas and meet any of the following conditions:

  • You have previously had a visitor visa refusal.
  • You have a criminal record.
  • Your visa has been canceled in Australia or another country.
  • You are subject to an exclusion period.
  • You have previously provided false or misleading information to the Department.
